RingCentral Mac & Windows Updates
Updates to the RingCentral Call Controller have been released recently for both the Mac and Windows version. Currently, Windows users should be at version 4.60.109.96, whereas Mac OS users should be at version 4.06.053.00. To find your version number, on the Call Controller go to Menu > Help > About… You can also check for updates by going to Menu > Tools > Check for Updates.
The Windows version increases stability to the controller, and adds continuous synchronization features to Outlook contacts.
The much anticipated Macintosh version also increases the stability of the Call Controller, and adds additional functionality that had previously only been available with the Windows version. Voice messages and faxes will now appear in the Call Controller window so that they can be managed in a way similar to e-mail. Also the ability to flat out reject incoming calls, rather than directing them to voicemail, has been added. For chronic unwanted calls or faxes, clients should still use the Block List available in the RingCentral on-line control panel.
Clients who do the update themselves should be aware that the install process seems to hang at the beginning of the process, especially on the Windows version. Do not abort the installation, however, as this is not an indication that the installation has failed. For whatever reason, the installer takes an inordinate amount of time canvassing the system before moving onto the next step. Once the install has finished, you may need to restart your system to complete the installation process. As always, I can help you with Ring Central update, installation and feature issues.
